Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets, is apparently having trouble with his ankle and is off to the side getting checked out.
The Jets’ new quarterback was seen walking carefully on an injured ankle without a helmet.
“It looks like we won’t see Rodgers practice today,” Brian Costello tweeted. “He is watching the drills with no helmet. The good news is he is still out here. If he was really hurt, he would be inside. It is also May 23.”

An ankle injury is nothing to laugh at, but a minor injury in May is not the end of the world for New York’s effort with Rodgers. Dianna Russini, an ESPN reporter, wrote on Twitter that Rodgers later joined the rest of the offense, but he did not put on a helmet. Ryan Dunleavy said in a tweet that Rodgers walked with a slight limp.
In the last five NFL seasons, Rodgers hasn’t missed a single game. In 2017, he hurt himself and only played seven games. Before that, Rodgers hadn’t missed a game since 2013. Overall, Rodgers has been a strong support for the team’s health.

Before the scare at practice, Russini talked to several players and coaches in New York about what Rodgers had done so far. She was told a lot of things, including that the standard has gone up, that the QB cares about the smallest details, and that he has a lot of say.
Robby Sabo, who helped start Jets X-Factor, recently gave a report on the situation.
“Aaron Rodgers went jogging into the facility at some point during or shortly after the warmup period. He’s not partaking in anything on the field now, hanging out with [Nathaniel] Hackett with helmet off.”
Even though there are no signs right now that Aaron Rodgers or Allen Lazard will be out for a long time, losing their two biggest free agents this offseason on the first day is definitely the worst case situation. How well the Jets do in 2023 will depend a lot on how healthy Rodgers and Lazard are.
