In a small, intimate ceremony in California, Wanda Sykes and Alex Niedbalski tied the knot on October 25, 2008. They were already two years into their relationship. In April 2009, the couple welcomed twins Olivia and Lucas. In November 2008, a month before her wedding to Niedbalski, Sykes revealed she was a lesbian.

The statement was made during a demonstration in Las Vegas in support of same-age marriage and in opposition to Proposition 8, a referendum on the California ballot that would have prohibited same-s*x marriage.
