Taylor Swift on Speak Now: Appeals to Fans to Refrain From Defending Her Albums Against Exes

Taylor Swift’s album “Speak Now” was a big step in her singing career. It came out on October 25, 2010, and showed how much Swift had grown as a singer-songwriter and how her heartfelt words and catchy melodies could draw people in. “Speak Now” not only cemented Swift’s place as a music industry powerhouse, but it also showed how she has grown as an artist.

The album was about love, loss, and expressing yourself, and each song had Swift’s trademark stories woven into them. With hits like “Mine,” “Back to December,” and “Mean,” “Speak Now” is still a fan favorite and a great example of how talented and creative Swift is.

On Saturday, June 24, Taylor Swift teased the release of her Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) album in a new video while decked out in her jewel-encrusted Lover bodysuit from The Eras Tour. Swift gave a sneak glimpse of her new album on social media and said, “13 days til we return Speak Now to its mother.”

The Eras Tour shared a post on Twitter: Taylor Swift re-emphasizes that she is really excited about “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”

Swift casually examines a new Speak Now release on vinyl, holds it up, and peeps at the camera from behind the purple record as an audio clip of the re-recorded album’s first track, “Mine,” plays. We hear the perfect “Mine” line: “You are the best thing that’s ever been mine.”

Swift appears to be displaying the orchid-marbled Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) vinyl, which can be purchased from her website for $38.99. Additionally, she offers a lilac marbled pattern that is only available at Target as well as a violet marbled version on her website.

Taylor Swift Asks Fans Not To Defend Her Albums Against Her Exes

Ahead of the release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” next month, Taylor Swift implored fans to be fair to the men they assume her songs are written about online.

At her Eras Tour concert in Minneapolis on Saturday night, Swift, 33, spoke before her acoustic set, which includes two surprise songs. She talked about how, while on her nationwide sold-out tour, she had heard tales of fans forging friendships with one another.

For the release of her album on July 7, she said she would sincerely appreciate it if “that kindness and gentleness extended onto our internet activities.”

“So what I’m saying is I’m putting this album out because I want to own my music. … I’m not putting this album out so you can go on the internet and defend me against someone you think I wrote a song about 14 million years ago,” Swift said, according to multiple videos posted online.

The Swift Media shared a post on Twitter:

Swift added that she doesn’t give a damn,

“about anything that happened when I was 19 except the songs I wrote and the memories we made together.”

She then performed “Dear John,” a song about a romance with musician John Mayer about which fans have long theorized. The third album Swift has re-recorded since her former record label sold her master recordings to Scooter Braun in 2019; they were later sold to the investment company Shamrock Capital. “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” is the third album she has done so.

Fans made jokes and memes about Jake Gyllenhaal when “Red (Taylor’s Version)” was published in 2021 because they think he was the basis for her song “All Too Well.” Swift has never revealed the subjects of her songs, some of which she claims are imaginary while others, according to her, are somewhat personal.

In an interview with Esquire, Gyllenhaal stated that he believed Swift’s re-release of the song, which featured a 10-minute-long version, was more about her relationships with her fans than with him.
