The new season will premiere in 2023, although precise specifics regarding the cast are still unknown. The project has been dubbed an “anime project restart.” Megumi Ogata and Akari Kito, who previously voiced Hanako and Nene in the first season of the TV anime, may be heard in the special trailer.

The first season, consisting of 12 episodes, diverged from some aspects of the source material and was released in 2020. Lerche animated it, while Masaomi Ando directed it. Surprisingly, the series planned a musical adaptation back in 2020.

The official website for the Toilet-bound Hanako-kun anime has stated that the popular anime would be “restarted,” with a 2023 launch date. Although information regarding the new adaptation’s cast has yet to be published, a teaser trailer was produced as part of the first announcement, which you can see below.

In 2023, the anime remake of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is scheduled for release. The new teaser features the voices of the main characters, Hanako (CV: Megumi Ogata) and Nene (CV: Akari Kito).

Toilet-bound Hanako-kun is Getting a Reboot

Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is an anime series that premiered in 2020 and ran for 12 episodes. However, it was decided to revive the series to authentically adapt the source material, the manga.

The goal is to offer a more accurate, if not better, production for the remake. It is unknown whether the original animation company, Lerche, will return to manage the reboot’s output.

During its initial run, the anime grew in popularity and surpassed Haikyuu! Season 4 to become the second most popular series of the Winter 2020 season. Despite some criticism for omitting parts of the manga, audiences largely liked the anime.

It earned Best Character Design at the 2021 Crunchyroll Awards and Anime of the Season (Winter 2020) at the 2020 Anime Trending Awards. It also took fourth place in the 2020 Anime of the Year Awards at Anime Corner.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Manga Has 18 Volumes

AidaIro is the author of the manga series Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun. It began appearing in Monthly GFantasy magazine in 2014 and has published 18 volumes.

Although work on the following volume is currently ongoing, no date for its release has been set. Publisher Yen Press, located in the US, obtained the series’ English translation license in 2017 and initially published the manga online.

The print edition of the manga wasn’t released by Yen Press until 2020, though. The first 16 volumes have already been published, and book 17 will follow on February 21, 2023. Volume 0, a precursor to the story, and an official art book were both released by Yen Press.

According to Yen Press, the anime is based on a manga by AidaIro and revolves around a specific plot.

“Hanako-san, Hanako-san… are you there?” At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom… but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san… is a boy!
