The investigators said he wore a life jacket, and no wrongdoing was suspected. They claimed there was no involvement of drugs or alcohol, and the boaters were water skiing at the time.
“Everything was as expected. According to Zach Bear, a witness there on Sunday, everyone was having fun on the lake. According to him, numerous families and groups of friends were there to enjoy the final weekends of summer.
Bear remarked, “There aren’t as many boats on the water, so it’s more tranquil.” When emergency personnel arrived, that calm was broken.
We all decided to head home, and as soon as we arrived at the docking station, we noticed it had grown considerably, according to Bear. “Fire trucks, an ambulance, and the medivac flight crew.”
Bear realized something important had happened on the lake when he got out of his boat to collect his car. Everyone was aware of the tragedy that had occurred, he said. His heart sank as soon as he reached land. Bear claimed that his experience in the military helped him comprehend what was going on.
“When we did show up to the docking station, there was a little tent, and then it had a white sheet around it,” he recalled. He claimed that the park authorities and first responders informed Bear that a toddler had been harmed.

“I walked out of the ranger station, and it just so happened to be the family sitting where the benches were,” he recalled. Bear spoke with the Greer family on the coast and conveyed his sorrow.
“I had asked one of them if this was all for them, and they had said yes, and they were trying to take it all in,” he said. “I remember saying, ‘I’m so sorry for your loss.’”
Greer’s family claimed that when he fell off the boat, hit the propeller, and passed away, he was out on the lake having fun with his parents, two sisters, and friends.
They had just emerged from the lake and had wet hair. Bear observed Greer’s family, “It just felt like they were trying to take it all in.” He claimed that tourists hastened to leave the lake when the picture grew ominous.
“Everybody there needed to collect themselves, kind of chaotic,” Bear said. According to Bear, some initial responders were affected by the circumstances. “I think anybody who would see that, especially with a child, would need a little bit to decompress,” he remarked.
Bear expresses his sympathy to the boy’s family. “I’ll never be able to forget seeing them, and knowing what I know now, it’s got to be very hard for them,” he said.
Greer’s family released the following statement to KSL TV:
“We are devastated to be saying goodbye to our darling Walter so unexpectedly. Walter was an absolute joy who loved Spiderman, trains, trucks, and his red boots. We are so blessed to have Walter forever in our family. He is so loved, and we hold his memory close until we meet again.”
