Following a terrifying near-miss encounter with some on-stage pyro over the weekend, Ellie Goulding is counting her blessings. The singer shared on an Instagram Story on Wednesday (August 30) that a fire effect went awry during her performance at the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, England on Sunday, but she managed to escape unscathed.
In a fan video of the event, Goulding can be heard singing “Miracle” and saying, “Ah, f-k!” as a pyrotechnic flame shoots up from the stage and appears to brush against her face.
Goulding, 36, assured her followers in her Story that she was unharmed and said, “To those enquiring I am ok! I wasn’t struck in the face by Pyro. The face is unharmed. Thank you; I love you.”
Even while Goulding’s close call was terrifying, it continued the recent pattern of artists running into unforeseen danger while performing, more frequently lately from things thrown at them by fans.
Over the past several months, everyone from Drake to Harry Styles, Bebe Rexha, Latto, Kelsea Ballerini, Steve Lacy, and P!nk has avoided objects that were thrown at them or on stage.
