It is not something I am against, it is just that I didn’t grow up active in the church. I’m not that ‘poster boy’ for the church. … I was never really a churchgoer my whole life, just not involved much in it. My family and I hold the same morals and values that the church does, for sure, but I really didn’t know a lot about the teaching and stuff until I got to BYU.
The Jets QB has also provided much more detailed responses regarding his religiosity. “I think of myself as being incredibly spiritual. I think my relationship with God has been positive throughout my life, Wilson remarked. “At BYU, I have gotten a little more into it.”
At BYU, he also solidified his identity as a Morman. Because of his talent and playing style, he was given the moniker “Mormon Mahomes” and “Mormon Manziel” in school.
What Faith Does Zach Wilson Follow?
Although Zach Wilson considers himself to be a Mormon, he does not want to be viewed as one. He sees himself as spiritual, but he has never been aggressively religious or a churchgoer who actively participates. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints performed his baptism. His family has been practising Mormonism for a long time.
Mormons hold the view that in order to complete the cycle of returning to God, one must accept atonement through ordinances and follow the path of Jesus Christ. The baptizing is one of these ordinances.
Zach Wilson maintains his religious convictions, but it hasn’t affected his ability to play or further his career. After the Jets signed Aaron Rodgers, it will be intriguing to observe how the quarterback’s career develops.
