Darius Rucker is a well-known American singer, guitarist, and songwriter. While attending the University of South Carolina in 1986, he co-founded the rock band Hootie & the Blowfish with fellow students Mark Bryan, Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, and Dean Felber. Darius Rucker Career
With the publication of his R&B album “The Return of Mongo Slade” in 2001 (later retitled “Back to Then” and distributed by Hidden Beach Recordings in 2002), Rucker took a bold step into solo work early in his career. Jill Scott collaborated on many tracks on the album, and one of the tracks was included ointhe “Shallow Hal” movie’s soundtrack.
Darius Rucker dedicated the remainder of his solo career to country music, despite his R&B release. After agreeing to a contract with Capitol Records Nashville, he released “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” his debut solo country hit, in 2008. This was from his first Country album, “Learn to Live,” and his second solo album. Numerous singles were on the album, which eventually received platinum status.
Following his triumph of the New Artist Award and establishment of himself as a major player in the country music world, Rucker released the album “Charleston, SC 1966.” Both the song “This” and the single “Come Back Song” peaked at the top of the Country charts. Together with Brad Paisley, he recorded the duet “I Don’t Care” for his second Country album.
Darius released the album “True Believers” in 2013, which featured singles including “Wagon Wheel” at number one. Rucker received an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry earlier that year.
