Zuri Craig was a singer and actor best known for his roles in “Madea Gets a Job” (2013) and “Madea’s Big Happy Family” (2011). Craig is best known for his performance on “AGT” in 2015 with his singing partner, Jeffrey Lewis.
In 2015, the CraigLewis band competed on the tenth season of America’s Got Talent. At their audition, they wowed the judges by performing “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” by James Brown. They’ve secured a berth in the Judge’s Cuts round with four yes votes.
The quartet received Michael Bublé’s Golden Buzzer after performing Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down” in the Judges Cuts. As a result, they advanced directly to the quarterfinals.
Craig and Lewis did excellently in the competition, but it wasn’t enough to win. They finished fifth overall in the grand finals. Paul Zerdin, a ventriloquist, was the winner of AGT season ten.
Craig was already associating with select Hollywood A-listers, such as TP, who remembered Lewis and him from YouTube covers they were making as early as 2009. As a result, Craig was hired to work on several of Tyler’s “Madea” productions.
“Madea’s Big Happy Family,” “Madea Gets a Job,” and “A Madea Christmas” are just a few of the films in which Craig has appeared or contributed. In the early 2010s, he and Lewis even appeared on “Oprah.”

Tyler Perry’s and Zuri’s Partnership
Jeffrey Lewis and Zuri Craig met while both were students at Clark Atlanta University (CAU) in Georgia. They had both been students at the university for two years prior to meeting during a campus talent show audition. They quickly formed The CraigLewis Band and became fast friends.
When the couple initially began performing together, they decided to take advantage of YouTube. They began uploading cover versions of songs to YouTube, including “I’m Here” from the Broadway production of The Color Purple and “The Brady Bunch Theme Song.” Tyler Perry became interested in this after hearing their music in December 2009.
Perry invited the gifted couple to join his new show, Madea’s Big Happy Family and they abandoned their jobs as restaurant waiters. They began working on the production in January 2010 and began touring immediately. As a result of their collaboration with Tyler Perry, the CraigLewis Band was invited to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April 2010 alongside Tyler Perry and Janet Jackson.
