Many people were injured in a stampede that caused widespread panic at the Miami-Dade County Child Fair on Saturday night.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, some fairgoers were worried when a group of children started racing about the grounds.
Several emergency personnel was sent to the location. The exact number of casualties is unknown.
“All reports of an incident at the Dade County Youth Fair have been deemed unfounded,” police told NBC 6. “There are no threats to public safety.”

The police investigation also confirmed there was no shooting.
Miami-Dade Police confirmed a bogus claim of shots fired Saturday night at The Miami-Dade County Fair through Twitter, saying they were “aware of reports of an incident at @miamiyouthfair” and adding that there was “no credibility to these reports or threats to public safety.”

Officials at the Youth Fair said in a statement that they are looking into ways to increase security.
“The safety of Youth Fair guests, vendors, exhibitors, and staff is and always has been of utmost importance,” the statement read. “On the evening of March 25, 2023, several groups of juveniles created panic in a coordinated effort by running through the midways and alarming patrons. Miami-Dade County Police and Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue worked diligently to restore order and assist guests.”
