In the latest Nintendo Direct on September 14th, they revealed some exciting news: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is getting a makeover for the Nintendo Switch.
This game, known by many as the best in the Paper Mario series, originally came out in 2004 and was a huge hit.
But because it was only available on the Nintendo Gamecube, it became hard to find for Mario fans over the years. Now, they’re giving it a fresh look for the Switch.
You can watch the trailer for the remastered version below.
For those who love the original game, there are some familiar moments, like when Mario turns into a paper airplane to cross gaps with Goombella.
Nintendo says:
“Turn the page and join Mario and friends in an RPG adventure to discover the legendary treasure behind the ancient Thousand-Year Door. Will Mario complete his papery quest, or will he crumple under the pressure?”

Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door Release Date
The new Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is set to come out on the Nintendo Switch in 2024. Until then, they’ll be sharing more information about the remaster in upcoming Directs.
In the same Nintendo Direct, they also talked about a remake of Super Mario RPG, but it comes with some new gameplay tricks. You have to time your moves just right to deal more damage to enemies and avoid taking too much damage yourself.
There’s also something called the Triple Move, which you can use when you’ve filled up the action gauge by landing successful attacks. It changes depending on which characters you have in your party, so you can try different combos.
