Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Ace magazine reported the death of manga creator Tomohiro Marukawa last Friday.
He died of ischemic heart disease on January 25 at the age of 53.
Marukawa is well-known for creating “The World of Narue,” a manga that started in Monthly Shōnen Ace in 1999 and ended in December 2012 after 13 volumes.
This manga was highly praised, and it even received a Seiun Award in 2014. It became so popular that a 12-episode television anime series was produced in 2003.

After finishing “The World of Narue,” Marukawa created “Mahō Shōjo Yon-gō-chan” (Magicannon Girl Mk.IV), which appeared in the May 2014 edition of Young Ace, a manga magazine.
This series, published in two volumes, the most recent in February 2019, demonstrates Marukawa’s ongoing originality and passion for manga.

The release also stated that Marukawa had been developing a new project up until his death, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his trade.
His passing is a great loss to the manga community because he was a creator who offered joy and inspiration to many people with his unique worlds and characters.
