“Are You There God?” has been airing for over 50 years. It’s Me, Margaret” has helped countless young women through the angst of coming of age. A trailer for the film adaptation of the classic Judy Blume novel that has captivated generations of young female readers was unveiled on Thursday, giving fans a taste of what they may expect.

Margaret Simon (Abby Ryder Fortson) and her parents are seen at the beginning of the trailer packing up to move from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey. Margaret, a little girl of 11, is entering a new phase of her life and, despite her lack of religious convictions, she frequently confides in God.

Margaret and her new sixth-grade friends experience the awkwardness that comes with entering adolescence. They blush when they have to buy sanitary pads in front of a man cashier and they wince when they go bra shopping with their mothers. They chant in unison, “We must, we must raise our bust!,” a famous mantra from the book, in an attempt to stimulate breast growth.
