Travis and Jason Kelce will be the First Brothers to Compete in the Super Bowl in 2023

The pinnacle in sibling rivalry, if you ask me! On Sunday, February 12, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will square off in Super Bowl LVII, and the Kelce household may have trouble deciding which team to support. As far as we know, this will be the first time two siblings have ever competed for opposite sides in a Super Bowl.

Tight end Travis Kelce, 33, and starting center Jason Kelce, 35, are brothers in the National Football League. Donna Kelce, the brothers’ mother, made news for attending a game in both Tampa Bay and Kansas City on the same day, just one example of how Ed and Donna Kelce have been juggling games all season.

Donna tweeted, “#HeightsHighandUCBearcatSuperBowl” after learning that both of her sons, Travis and Jason, will be playing in the Super Bowl. Travis attended Cleveland Heights High School, and Jason attended the University of Cincinnati. Donna spoke her mind on her sons’ rivalry in an interview with Fox 8, Cleveland’s local news station.

“It’s your hopes and dreams coming true, but it’s your worst fears,” she admitted. “Somebody is going to go home a loser, and neither one of them lose very well.”

Even beyond the Kelce siblings, this year’s Super Bowl is full with firsts. Additionally, this will be the first Super Bowl in which both starting quarterbacks are people of color. Patrick Mahomes will lead the Chiefs, while Jalen Hurts will guide the Eagles. A victory over the Eagles would make Mahomes the first Black quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls.

If the Eagles beat the Chiefs, Hurts would join Patrick Mahomes, Doug Williams, and Russell Wilson as the only Black quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl. Twitter has been buzzing about the historic QB showdown. Former NFL quarterback Warren Moon, now enshrined in Canton, tweeted,

“I’m so proud to see Jalen and Patrick as the first 2 African American QBs to face each other in the Super Bowl! We have come a long way.”

The first brothers to play in the Super Bowl will do so in 2023. You can check more articles about Travis and Jason(Personal Life) in the following links:

On Twitter, Magic Johnson also mentioned both quarterbacks’ eligibility for the NFL MVP award.

“What a historic moment, this will be the first time two Black starting quarterbacks will face each other in the Super Bowl, and they both are leading candidates for NFL MVP! I can’t wait to watch!”

He put pen to paper. State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona will host the big game on Sunday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. ET, and the event will be broadcast on Fox.
