Reuters said that Get Free Report shares dropped sharply on Wednesday after the digital search group posted an online ad using its new AI technology that gave wrong information.
Google ran a demo of its new “Bard” technology, which is an AI-powered chatbot that responds to voice-activated questions online. This was done before a launch event in Paris, which was hosted by Google senior vice president Prabhakar Raghava who promised to “bring generative AI technologies into our products.”
The ad asked, “What new things can I tell my 9-year-old about what the James Webb Space Telescope has found?” One of the answers said that the Telescope was used to take the first photos of plants on “exoplanets,” or planets outside of the earth’s solar system.

This honor goes to the Very Large Telescope at the European Southern Observatory, which took the first photos of an exoplanet in 2004. As of late morning trading on Wednesday, Google shares were down 8.5%, while the Nasdaq was down 1.6%. Each share could be bought or sold for $98.50.

Microsoft’s Bing search engine, which came out late Tuesday, is giving Google’s search market dominance its toughest test in years.
Microsoft said it will add the newer version of ChatGPT, a tool that processes instructions using human language, to both its Edge web browser and Bing search engine over the next few months.
ChatGPT was made by OpenAI, which announced an investment from Microsoft worth billions earlier this year. It is expected to change the group’s share of the search market and add billions to both its top and bottom lines.
Google, the market leader, also made a move to add AI-powered technology to search and ads earlier this week when it launched a test version of “Bard.” Last quarter, Google’s parent company, Alphabet, made about $43 billion from search, while Microsoft only made $3.2 billion.
