Evelyn Lozada has found true love. On Thursday, the former Basketball Wives star announced her engagement to Lavon Lewis, the man she ultimately chose to represent her on Peacock’s Queens Court.
Lozada, Tamar Braxton, and Nivea star in a reality dating series hosted by Holly Robinson and Rodney Peete, in which they meet and get to know 21 guys competing to be their “kings.”
Lozada told People that she and Lewis met on the show’s second episode and that she was nervous about their long-distance relationship because she lives in Los Angeles and he is in Atlanta. Nonetheless, the two have made their relationship work, and Lewis proposed to Lozada on her birthday in Los Angeles, surrounded by close friends and family.
“The thing about Evelyn is, it is very hard to surprise her,” the marketing firm cofounder told the outlet. “I told her to pack her bags, we’re going somewhere. She was blindfolded until she got to the front door. She walked in to about 20 close friends and family and the big ‘marry me’ letters, roses on the ground, things like that.”

The engaged mother of two children said she was surprised by Lewis’ proposal, despite the fact that the couple had talked about marriage in the past, but that she loved the Twila True ring he had chosen.
“It was the perfect size and shape,” Lozada said. “I’ve never had that stone, so he did a really, really good job. But I’m not surprised. Lavon is a creative mind and he doesn’t forget anything.”
The long-distance couple has made every effort to spend time together and bring their families closer together despite the distance that separates them. Lozada claimed her fiance Lavon has been “Lavon has been very proactive of making sure he gets on a plane to come visit,” and that he and her 8-year-old son Leo hit it off and became “two peas in a pod” over the holidays.

Lewis said that his son Jordan, who is 13, shares a strong bond with Lozada and that the two are planning to move live together once Jordan enters high school.
“I would challenge people to think outside of the box and have faith and push themselves,” Lewis told People he hopes Queens Court viewers take from the series. “I didn’t think I would go into it and come out of it with a wife. But look at what happens when you open yourself up and challenge yourself and step up to the plate.”
