Social tensions on a recent episode of “American Idol” as one competitor alleged that judge Katy Perry had “taken things too far.” The incident occurred during Hollywood Week when the surviving contestants performed in groups to advance to the next round.
The judges observed and evaluated the performances as usual, giving compliments, suggestions, and occasionally harsh criticism. But when a participant challenged Perry about her treatment of the group, things took a dramatic turn.
The incident generated discussion regarding the function of judges in reality programs and the boundaries of their authority among the other candidates and spectators. We’ll examine the specifics of what transpired in this article and what it implies for the future of “American Idol.”
American Idol Contestant Calls Out Katy Perry
An American Idol contestant has a mother’s level of rage. Sara Beth Liebe responded to a joke about being a young mother made by judge Katy Perry shortly after her singing competition audition for the 31st season was broadcast.
The 25-year-audition old’s for judges Katy, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan aired in the episode on March 5. When she appeared in front of the group, they were astounded by her young; Luke remarked that she appeared to be 16 at the moment, to which she laughed and responded, “I love you guys the most. My three children.”
Sara As Beth revealed that she was a mother, Katy made a shocked face, stood up, and melted onto the judges’ desk slowly. Sara exclaimed with excitement,
“I think I’m going to pass out if Katy lays on the table.” Katy said, returning to her chair, “Honey, you’ve been resting on the table too much.”

What did Sara Beth think of Katy’s dig?
The native of California reflected on the exchange in a TikTok video, saying, “It was embarrassing to have it on TV.” “That caused pain. I believe it’s awesome when women encourage and support one another, and I think it’s really lame when mothers are shamed. I believe that being a mother and a woman are both difficult roles to play.” Sara Beth, a mother of three children—sons Kellin, Willow, and Ellie—also thanked other women for their support in her video.
She went on to say,
“I see all of the young moms, and just moms in general, who have commented on all of the videos and posts and everything. “I just wanted to let you know that I see you, I hear you, and I appreciate you. You are deserving. Don’t stop loving your children.”
Sara Beth originally intended to perform “Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John at her audition, but she substituted “You Know I’m No Good” by Amy Winehouse since she claimed her voice wasn’t cooperating. Katy, however, remarked following the song, “That is insufficient. Consider “Bennie and the Jets.”
Luke gave Sara Beth a standing ovation for her performance of the Elton John classic, and she finally received a free trip to Hollywood. Possibly in the following round, Sara Beth and Katy will mend their ways.
