A friendship of unparalleled strength. Their on-screen connection is so convincing that many moviegoers may wonder if Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson are dating in real life, even though they have been together in some of the most successful boxing movies of the past decade.
Michael B. Jordan plays Adonis Creed, Rocky Balboa’s illegitimate son, and Apollo Creed’s nemesis-turned-friend in THE CREED FILM SERIES. He meets Bianca, a talented but hard-of-hearing songwriter, and vocalist. Although many difficulties were associated with the burgeoning careers of the boxer and musician, their relationship develops throughout the three films, and they eventually marry and have a daughter together. Did the actors go on dates based on their on-screen romance?

Are Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson Dating?
Is Michael B. Jordan dating Tessa Thompson? No, the two actors are not in a relationship. Michael B. Jordan is now unmarried (though rumors indicate he may be dating a British model), while Tessa Thompson keeps her personal life private. In a piece published on March 6, 2023, she told Refinery29 there are many misconceptions regarding her “dating life.”
The Thor: Love and Thunder actress discussed how their character’s development in Creed III was similar to their own in an interview with Refinery 29. Even in the role, they attended couple’s therapy, which helped inform their real-life interactions. “We realized how much we’ve grown throughout making these films. And I think a lot of our growth is also parallel to the growth of the characters,” Tessa observed of her and Michael.

“We are both parents in this film, not parents in real life. But I think in terms of the kind of conversations we’re having together, and separately around legacy, Bianca and Adonis have transitioned out of their careers as they once knew their careers and are now business owners—Bianca’s producing music. Mike’s character has his gym and is looking after fighters and trying to think of the next generation of people inside of his sport,” she said.
“I think Mike and I are doing that in so many ways. We both have our production companies. We’re producing earnestly and thinking about our contribution — not just to culture but to our community. I think that’s one area of growth I see parallel to these two people we play.”
She praised the film’s message and said that she and her partner had attended couple’s therapy, positively impacting both. She compared it to a public service announcement (PSA) for treatment. Creed III’s takeaway message is that counseling is beneficial for everyone; it certainly helped Bianca.
One of the things I like most about her is her unassuming bravery. I adore the things we all do as anonymous heroes but which no one ever acknowledges. We’re getting through our self-imposed barriers. When we first met her in Creed, one of her flaws was that she was too proud to show her genuine emotions to anyone. There was an air of toughness about it. She’s from Philadelphia, but it also has to do with her pain and harm; that’s a story we didn’t hear fully.
Thompson continued, “the line sometimes between character and us get blurred because we bring so much of what we’re exploring personally to the characters. So funnily, it was the first time…. I’m probably saying too much. It was an early experience in couples therapy for us both [personally], but it was as these characters, which is very weird. But it reminded us of our personal lives going to therapy; even when a relationship is good, it can be good if you’re trying to sharpen communication and figure out how someone works. It’s useful in so many relationships.”
She added that these discussions in therapy while playing these roles helped them feel more comfortable discussing the challenges of being young parents. Over the past eight or nine years, we’ve been working on these movies together, so we’ve seen each other go through different phases in their romantic lives. We have therefore gained mutual knowledge of several aspects of each other’s lives. We discussed it among ourselves.
Therefore, therapy began in the workplace and gradually moved within. It was also an opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with a couples therapist on the unique challenges young parents face juggling work, school, and personal goals. Can you identify any common threads? In what ways can they run into trouble? Is there anything standing in the form of their love and happiness? I thought it was terrific that she added that to the mix.
In Creed III, Michael B. Jordan’s character faces off against his former best buddy and now bitter foe, Damian “Diamond Dame” Anderson (played by Jonathan Majors). Jordan made a U-turn and is currently directing and starring in the third film in the series. I’ve always wanted to run, but the time wasn’t right. “Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right. Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect,” he said in a statement to Deadline.
“All of which sets the table for this moment. This franchise and, in particular, the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.”
What Did Tessa Thompson Say About Michael B. Jordan as a Director?
Tessa Thompson, who has acted alongside Michael B. Jordan in three films, gave his directing approach high marks in an interview with IndieWire. “In some ways, and my estimation, someone that’s brilliant at directing, it doesn’t just have to do with the product that everyone sees; it has to do with the experience that they create for however many months you’re making the thing,” Thompson said.
“How well they care for a crew and honor everyone’s contribution because people work hard. There are a lot of people that no one ever sees on screen. So I felt so proud of him for creating an environment that was pleasant to work in.”
She spoke about how he would treat the crew and actors of his first film as director. She said he never took it out on those around him despite his exhaustion and worry. “Even though he was taxed and stressed, and I know it because I know him so well and I could tell the days where things were tough for him, never would he take it out on anybody around him,” she said.

“He would take a breath and figure it out and go back in there, treat everyone with respect, ask people how their weekend was, and be a lovely, lovely leader. That, to me, is the mark of someone that can do this because this should be, at its best, a team sport, and that person is just the captain, but everyone is important on the team.”
She joked that he would even pick out her clothing for the set. “There was a party scene where I wanted to wear something… I wanted to wear all black because I’m secretly goth. I never got to be in high school, so now I am,” Thompson said on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. “And he was like, ‘No, no, no. You’re not going to wear that.'” She later admitted that his direction was ultimately the correct move. “He was right in the end. He was,” she said. “I can admit when I’m wrong.”
