From his first marriage to Joan Archer Aldrin, astronaut Buzz Aldrin is the father of three children: James Michael Aldrin, Janice Ross Aldrin, and Andrew John Aldrin. His children have talked about what it was like to grow up in the spotlight as their father participated in the Apollo 11 mission over the years.
Buzz had his sights set on becoming an astronaut after serving as a jet fighter pilot during the Korean War. He joined NASA in 1963, and a few years later, he was given the Apollo 11 mission. In 1954, Buzz and Joan got married, and on July 20, 1969, she was cheering him on from home. Their three children described what it was like to see everything unfold on television.

Buzz Aldrin Grandchildren
Buzz and Joan got divorced in 1974 following a successful space trip. She passed away naturally on July 22, 2015, at the age of 84. Prior to Joan’s passing, she and Buzz welcomed Janice’s son Jeffrey Michael Schuss as their own.
Buzz became a great-grandfather when Jeffrey and his wife, April Schuss, welcomed their three sons, Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Archer.
