The sci-fi dramedy by Seth MacFarlane Season 3 saw The Orville switch from Fox to Hulu, eventually making its way back onto screens after multiple setbacks brought on by the Coronavirus outbreak and fluctuating television schedules.

Coleman gave a positive update regarding season 4 in a March 2023 interview, saying that he thought the next chapter was coming even though things were “up in the air.” Coleman also mentioned that MacFarlane and Disney Entertainment Co-Chair Dana Walden have a solid working connection, adding, “And they said they’ve had promising meetings, so we’ll see.”
Coleman’s remarks, however, were made before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which started in May 2023 and have lasted the entire year. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes might make or break any chances The Orville season 4 has for renewal, even if there was still relatively little news about the show when the strikes started. Once the strikes are over, things should become more evident.
The Orville Has Not Been Renewed For Season 4
The fourth season of The Orville has not been renewed. Seth MacFarlane is hopeful that The Orville season 4 will be announced soon. In an interview with TVLine, the creator claimed that a season 4 renewal is a “50-50” bet.

The Orville Season 4 Release Date Prediction
The Orville season 4 has not yet been given a release date. Even if it is confirmed soon, production cannot begin until the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are resolved. The Orville is a science fiction show with a huge budget and significant post-production required at times. With this in mind, The Orville season 4’s most likely release date would be somewhere in 2025.
