The 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards, chosen by the actors themselves, honored some of the outstanding television and film performances of the year on Sunday at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
The hit movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” continued to gain popularity throughout the evening, with its actors Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Ke Huy Quan collecting acting honors in their respective categories. On Sunday, Yeoh and Quan both achieved historic victories.
The movie also won the ceremony’s top honor for the best-cast performance in a motion picture. In the television categories, “Abbott Elementary” received the ensemble cast award for a comedy series, and “The White Lotus” took home the trophy for a drama series.
Watching the SAG Awards this year was a distinctive experience. The event was broadcast live on Netflix’s YouTube account, allowing for a less formal broadcast with sporadic swearing and no ads. The program will start streaming globally on Netflix in 2024.
