Jansen Panettiere, the younger brother of Hayden Panettiere of “Nashville” and “Heroes,” died unexpectedly of cardiac issues, his family reported. We are devastated by the sudden and unexpected death of our beloved Jansen.
According to a statement released by Jansen’s mother, father, and sister on Monday and obtained by The Times, Jansen died unexpectedly from cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) and aortic valve issues.
According to the Mayo Clinic, cardiomegaly is not an illness but rather a symptom of another problem that may be causing the heart to enlarge.
Damage to the heart or other forms of heart disease, as well as temporary stress on the body, can lead to a heart that is significantly larger than normal.
Friends reportedly found the 28-year-old lifeless in his New York residence on February 19 after he had missed a meeting earlier this month.
When The Times attempted to contact family members on Monday to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the death, no new information was provided.

Instead of emphasizing the literal properties of Panettiere’s heart, her family chose to focus on the symbolic ones in the rest of their statement.
“Jansen’s heart could be seen in his eyes, and his charm in his dazzling, engaging grin; his soul in his masterful and revealing paintings, and the love of life in his caustic wit,” reads a family statement. All those who had the pleasure of meeting him were touched by his “charismatic, kind, compassionate, and creative nature.”
The family also begged to be given privacy while they mourned, saying they were touched by the outpouring of support as they “handle this incomprehensible loss.”
Jansen, you are so loved and cherished, and you will be in our hearts forever. Panettiere began his acting career with a role on the Disney Channel comedy “Even Stevens,” and he has since gone on to provide his voice for the animated films “Robots” and “Ice Age: The Meltdown” and to appear in “The Martial Arts Kid,” “Blue’s Clues,” and “The Last Day of Summer,” among other projects, and to play the role of Casper on AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”
Both “Tiger Cruise” (2004), a Disney film, and “Racing Stripes,” a 2005 film, featured him alongside his 33-year-old sister Hayden. Panettiere also used Instagram to display his colorful artwork, and he posted a photo of his older sister joyously cutting his curly hair a few weeks before he passed away.
