The fifth entry in the well-known “Descendants” franchise is the upcoming American musical fantasy movie “Descendants: Rising of the Red.” Fans have been anxiously awaiting word on the release of the most recent installment in the series since the release of the prior films, which had their television debuts on the Disney Channel and were immensely popular with its youthful audience.
The movie follows the teenage offspring of well-known Disney villains, and this time they must overcome a mystery foe named the Red Queen. Fans have been excitedly anticipating “Descendants: Rise of the Redrelease “‘s date as they wait to find out what the future holds for their favorite characters.
Descendants Rise of Red Release Date
The movie will start shooting this summer, so there’s a chance it may be out in 2023. The spin-off won’t be released in theaters; instead, Disney+ will release it directly.

In a Disney+ Original, Brandy Norwood and Paolo Montalban Reunite as Cinderella
Descendants: The Rise of Red will illustrate what the happily-ever-after fairytale lovers, Cinderella and Prince Charming, are up to now. In the Disney+ original, Brandy Norwood and Paolo Montalban, who co-starred with her in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, reprise their roles from the 1997 television movie.
As the parents of Chloe played by Malia Baker, Norwood will play Cinderella, while Montalban will play King Charming, in the upcoming Descendants film. Descendants: The Rising of Red recounts the story of Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter.
Red and Chloe, who are the complete opposites, must work together and go back in time to change the horrific event that led Red’s mother to become a villain when the oppressive Queen of Hearts instigates a coup against Auradon.

Red is portrayed by Kylie Cantrall, “The Queen of Hearts” is played by Rita Ora, China Uma was portrayed by Anne McClain, Uliana by Dara Reneé, Bridget the Young Queen of Hearts by Ruby Rose Turner, Ella the Young Cinderella by Morgan Dudley, Hook the Young Fisherman by Joshua Colley, the Fairy Godmother by Melanie Paxson, Principal Merlin by Jeremy Swift, and Maddox Hatter by Leonardo Nam.
Descendants: The Rise of Red is directed and co-executive produced by Jennifer Phang (The Flight Attendant), from a screenplay by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer (Magic: The Gathering). Mark Hofeling, a production designer, is returning to the series (Descendants).
Alexis Frank Koczara and Christine Smith Shevchenko are the casting directors, and Gary Marsh and Suzanne Todd (Noelle) are the executive producers (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers).
