Georgia Police Officer Among 4 Dead in a Bloodbath That Also Left Boy, 12, Shot in the Face

In a Clayton County incident on Tuesday night that left four people dead, including the suspect, one Georgia police officer was killed and another was wounded.

The Bloody Incident

According to Clayton County police were called from multiple homes in Rex complaining about shootings and possible domestic violence. The situation was both concerning and dangerous.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a 12-year-old boy who had been shot in the face. The boy led the police to the house where the gunman was living before he was sent to the hospital for treatment.

As soon as the police approached the house, the suspect shot a revolver at the cops, forcing them to leave for safety as the suspect retreated to the back of the house. Other officers confronted him there as they approached the house from the back.

Two cops were shot during the exchange of gunfire, one of whom died and the other had a gunshot to his hand, according to the chief. Henry Laxson, a field trainee with the local police, was recognized as the officer who died.

Alex Chandler, another cop, was shot in the hand. The suspect was struck and killed as police returned fire. Inside the house, the police found multiple victims and also bodies of two women. 

The shooting came after another incident in the Atlanta region in March, when a man opened fire in three massage parlors, killing a total of eight people. The guy was apprehended from a place 150 miles away from the crime scene. He was charged with eight counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

According to the Atlanta Journal report, three police officers have been killed in the line of duty in Georgia in November, making a total of eight kills this year. The chief of police said that these men and women (police officers) do an honorable job, keeping their lives on the line to protect the people.

He condemned the killings and extended his gratitude and grief to the families of the officers that bear injuries or face death on duty.

The situation is always emotional, losing someone you work with daily, sharing a healthy portion of your day with, eating with, sitting with, and one who was just standing by your side when he or she got hit. The chief said that incidents like these should not happen.
