The streaming giant Netflix recently shocked everyone by saying that it was canceling the show “1899.” The makers of “Dark,” Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, will not be making a second season of their mystery-science fiction show set in the past.
Like with “Dark,” the show’s creators had plans for two more seasons, but it wasn’t meant to be. Fans of the show aren’t going to give up that easily, though.
After trying to get the streaming service to change its mind and failing, many people have now signed petitions to keep the show going. One petition on Change.org has been signed by more than 35,000 people so far.

“1899 was clearly created with multiple seasons in mind. After the first season, there are a lot of unanswered questions and a big cliffhanger at the end of the last episode. We want a renewal of the show and a proper end to the story,” the petition says succinctly.
The show, which starred Emily Beecham, Andreas Pietschmann, Aneurin Barnard, Rosalie Craig, Clara Rosager, Lucas Lynggaard, Miguel Bernardeau, Anton Lesser, Ben Ashenden, and Alexander Owen, was about a group of immigrants traveling from London to New York. They find another ship floating in the ocean and find themselves in the middle of a mystery.
