Actors, musicians, and other public figures joined abortion rights groups and expressed their outrage over the last few days at the passage of the new law of Senate Bill 8, which states that abortions are banned after a fetal heartbeat is detected.

Banning abortion from six weeks of pregnancy has given rise to an outrageous outcome to the justices’ refusal to change the law. Also, the court did not rule on whether it was constitutional, which has caused controversy. Equally outrageous is the ban which makes it completely illegal to “aid or abet” an abortion, which seems incriminating to doctors, health care workers, and even for those who took women to the procedure.

Reese Witherspoon tweeted that she supports all the women of Texas who have the right to make their own decisions about their own bodies. #BansOffOurBodies

In an Instagram live, the singer Lizzo said the law that they have the right to do what you want, but the people who make laws need to stay out of people’s bodies business.

Amy Schumer the comedian and actor also tweeted that the law gives politicians, neighbors, and even strangers the right to sue those who get abortions after 6 wks. She also added that the time to fight for our reproductive health & rights is now

Meanwhile, singer Cyndi Lauper said on Instagram that we have to unite and take a stand for everyone’s reproductive freedom. She has shared an image on social media that said she stands with Texans & people who are seeking reproductive freedom

Pink also posted, “This ban, #SB8, will be the blueprint for bans across the US unless we take some action.”

Kerry Washington also tweeted that we all have the right to make our own decisions about our bodies and we should fight for everyone’s reproductive freedom.

Planned Parenthood, get a boost when a Texas judge gave a ruling that temporarily clinics stops from being targeted by lawsuits from an anti-abortion group. However, it does not invalidate the law whose passage is likely to embolden moves for stricter abortion laws in other GOP-led states.
