At Archbishop Stepinac High School, R.J. Davis was the leader of the Crusaders, who he helped to a 27-5 record. With his leadership, his team qualified for the CHSAA City Championship and the New York State Federation Championship in just his sophomore season.
Soon after, he was injured and had to miss the rest of his sophomore season. After a slow start to his career, he exploded during his junior year, averaging 25.4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.
After that, he received the Westchester/Putnam Player of the Year award from The Journal News. After that, he was instrumental in getting his team to the city finals.
