“Countdown to Extinction” (No. 2, 1992), “Youthanasia” (No. 4, 1994), “Cryptic Writings” (No. 10, 1997), “United Abominations” (No. 8, 2007), “Endgame” (No. 9, 2009), “Super Collider” (No. 6, 2013), and “Dystopia” were MEGADETH prior top 10 entries on the Billboard 200. (No. 3, 2016).

The Grammy-winning “Dystopia” marked the band’s ferocious return to form. “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” continues that momentum while celebrating Dave Mustaine’s victory over throat cancer.

The album was recorded at Mustaine’s home studio in Nashville, Tennessee, with guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Dirk Verbeuren, reuniting Dave with co-producer Chris Rakestraw (DANZIG, PARKWAY DRIVE), who together helmed 2016’s “Dystopia.”

Steve DiGiorgio, a bassist, temporarily filled in to record the album. James LoMenzo, a former member of MEGADETH, reconnected with the band as a permanent bassist at the beginning of their most recent tour.

For the song “We’ll Be Back” from “The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead!” MEGADETH has garnered its twelfth Grammy nomination.

The title track from MEGADETH’s 2016 album “Dystopia” received the “Best Metal Performance” Grammy Award at the 2017 Grammy Awards. With nominations in the now-discontinued “Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance” category included, this was the group’s tenth Grammy nomination in this area.
