Every true-crime enthusiast is aware of the heinous murders of 17-year-old Tylee Ashlyn Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “J.J.” Vallow, especially since the case has been tied to the doomsday philosophy. Lori Vallow Daybell and her partner, Chad Daybell, allegedly had this ideology and are accused of being the ones responsible for their deaths.
It hasn’t yet been proven in court, but as seen on ‘Dateline: The Doomsday Files,’ there appears to be a lot of evidence against them. So, shall we learn more about Lori and her current whereabouts?
Where is Lori Vallow Now?
Lori Vallow Daybell, an Idaho mother, was found guilty by a jury on all counts of killing her two children and planning to kill her husband’s first wife.
Vallow Daybell, who pled not guilty, was charged with two charges of first-degree murder and three counts of conspiracy in the murders of her children, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, as well as Tammy Daybell, her husband Chad Daybell’s first wife, in 2019.
Vallow was found guilty of all charges on May 12, 2023. When she is sentenced, she will face life in jail. A unanimous guilty decision was reached on Friday afternoon by a jury consisting of five women and seven men, who had started deliberations on Thursday afternoon.
Vallow Daybell did not appear to react as the verdict was announced. Ada County will give way to Fremont County for her sentencing and other proceedings. According to Judge Steven Boyce, sentencing will take place in around three months.
A cross-armed Vallow Daybell stood as the jurors were excused, said a few words to her lawyer, and hurried out of the courtroom, accompanied by a bailiff.
A May 2021 indictment lists grand theft as one of Vallow Daybell’s allegations. It is suspected that she changed bank accounts to get Social Security benefits on her children’s behalf after they passed away. According to prosecutors, she withheld reporting her kids missing in order to continue receiving the money, as East Idaho News reported on Thursday.
After the decision was read, JJ’s biological grandpa, Larry Woodcock, thanked the jury outside the courtroom, according to CNN.
“Thank y’all, thank y’all, thank y’all,” he said, arms spread. “What they went through, what they saw, is mind-boggling.”
A $20,000 reward was given by Woodcock and his spouse Kay for information that would result in the children’s return in January 2020.
He expressed on Friday, “I hope that nobody ever has to go through this. I hope nobody ever has to see and hear the details of what happened to JJ, to Tylee and to Tammy.”
Chad Daybell will face his charges in a separate trial after entering a not-guilty plea. A few weeks after Tammy Daybell’s death in her sleep in October 2019, Vallow Daybell wed Daybell.

In June 2020, law enforcement officials in Fremont County, Idaho, found the bones of Daybell’s stepchildren in his backyard. He faces two felonies each for conspiring to destroy, change, or conceal evidence, as well as two felonies each for committing destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence.
Closing arguments for the month-long trial of Vallow Daybell concluded on Thursday, during which Madison County prosecutor Rob Wood asked the jury to convict her on all counts.
“You have to find her guilty,” Wood declared on Thursday, according to East Idaho News, as pictures of Tammy Daybell and Vallow Daybell’s kids were projected into the courtroom.
In a statement released on Friday, Wood and Lindsey Blake, the prosecutor for Fremont County, expressed their “great satisfaction” with the verdict.
The IDOC website says Lori Vallow Daybell is no longer in IDOC custody. It's possible she's being moved to Arizona – BUT…the website also lists other inmates as no longer being in custody & their attorney tells me they are still incarcerated in Poc. pic.twitter.com/LU4v2PC5NK

The statement said, “We want to assure each of you that we remain committed to pursuing justice for Tylee Ryan, JJ Vallow and Tammy Daybell.”
The defense moved for a judgment of acquittal prior to the case going to the jury, citing insufficient evidence to support the allegations, before resting their case on Tuesday, according to KBOI-TV. On Thursday, Judge Steven Boyce rejected the motion in its entirety.
According to Jim Archibald, Vallow Daybell’s lawyer, “No one here thinks Lori actually killed anyone, that’s why she’s being charged with conspiracy,” on Thursday.
“If you find her guilty, will that bring the kids back? Nope. If you find her not guilty, will that bring the kids back? Nope,” replied Archibald, as reported by East Idaho News.

According to East Idaho News, the pair, who were married soon after Vallow Daybell’s kids vanished, is thought to be a member of a doomsday cult with fervent religious beliefs.
According to the May 2021 indictment, the pair “did endorse and espouse religious beliefs for the purpose of” defending or inciting the murders of Tammy Daybell and the children. Last year, a Netflix true-crime documentary presented their story.
