Not Dead Yet Season 1 Recap

Nell, Sam, and Edward park outside Philip’s bakery. Nell looks sad and watches Philip with binoculars. She recalls leaving her life and moving abroad to be with him for five years, learning what made him happy. But now she’s unclear about her feelings for him.

Sam tells Nell she knows how she feels about Philip, even if it’s fury and rage. Edward wonders why he’s there, but Sam reminds him that he’s there to help Nell. Edward feels weird going to the shop and asking Philip about his new life in Pasadena, but Nell urges him to. Edward fights with lying and snooping.

Sam becomes intrigued about Philip’s life in Pasadena, and Nell says he’s adventurous and unpredictable, but he wasn’t there for her following the miscarriage. Nell and Sam notice Edward acting uncomfortable in front of Philip from afar.

They rapidly learned he wasn’t the ideal candidate for their joint enemy reconnaissance operation. Philip notices the group observing him outside the bakery. In a panic, Nell orders Sam to accelerate and flee.

Philip texts Nell when she is researching a 43-year-old employee who never took a day off. She instantly presents it to her best friend Sam, who is angry despite her calmness.

Denis is bewildered until Nell says it’s a Philip message. The spirit of the old lady Nell is investigating suggests she meet with Philip, who may have crucial news. Nell follows the ghost’s advice in hopes of closure. Sam offers to support her and stares at him from the car.

Lexi enters the meeting room and advises Sam and Denis to talk about her daughter Kendell’s birthday celebration instead of work. Kendell wants a work-themed party, and Lexi is excited to collaborate with her friends.

Although Sam’s daughter Tilly wants a princess-themed birthday party, Lexi suggests partitioning the newsroom so they can have both a princess and a work-themed celebration. Sam doesn’t like the concept, but Lexi leaves her to work it out.

Sam should consider how she may work on party themes and chaperone Nell to Philip’s meetings like Denis does. Sam feels the weight of her responsibilities and her challenging situation.

Sam asks Edward to join Nell at the Philip meeting. Edward joins Nell at the bakery. Edward watches the two talk from the car and calls Sam to report it. Edward has problems interpreting Nell’s feelings, leaving Sam dissatisfied with his inability to communicate what’s happening.

Nell questions Philip in the bakery about his Pasadena visit. Philip apologizes immediately and says he shut down emotionally during their difficult moments because he was terrified and didn’t know how to handle his feelings. Nell was miserable due to his silence.

Philip offers Nell a freshly baked bambolone after apologizing. She accepts. Sam hears Edward recount the scene over the phone. Also, Philip reminds Nell that she owes him an apology for leaving him abruptly without explanation.

After eating the bambolone, Nell becomes upset and knows Philip came to Pasadena for this. She feels stupid for not noticing it sooner. She flees the bakery in fury. Edward asks how the meeting went, and Nell says, “Just as I expected it to go.”
