Man Playing Poker

Why was James Bond so good at Roulette?

The most iconic James Bond scenes weren’t always to the backdrop of detonated bombs, snowy mountains, sun-drenched beaches or beautiful women in bars. Many of the best James Bond scenes took place in a casino, often with Bond sitting at the players’ table.

Over the years we’ve seen Bond win at Baccarat and take part in the infamous high-stakes poker game in Casino Royale. But it’s the roulette table where Bond was extra special, using his own roulette strategy to win big.

What is the James Bond roulette strategy?

To use the James Bond roulette strategy, you don’t have to sit at the roulette table with a martini (shaken, of course). But it would make you look the part. You can even use the strategy while playing online roulette tables from the best sites. It’s suitable for any roulette table at any casino, no matter how you dress or what you order from the bar.

The strategy is categorised as a flat bet system. This is because the 007 system requires you to be the same amount each spin, in contrast to a strategy like the Martingale Theory, which requires the player to double their bet every time they lose. But you should still have a healthy bankroll to keep the strategy going. In our example below, we are going to use $20 per spin, but you can adjust it for your budget.

The James Bond roulette strategy requires three different bets per spin, known as a combination method. The first bet requires you to wager $14 on the high numbers, namely 19-36. The second bet must be $5 on a double street (i.e., two rows of three numbers). And the final $1 bet must be placed on the green 0. If you’re playing on an American roulette table (Bond would never even consider it), then you’ll have to split your $1 bet between 0 and 00.

The overarching logic to this method is that you cover more outcomes than otherwise possible while creating a change to win big on specific numbers.

James Bond roulette winning potential

To paint a better picture of the 007 roulette strategy, here are all the possible outcomes from each spin by following the above with a $20 bet each time.

  • 0 – you make a $15 profit
  • 1-12 – you lose $20
  • 13-18 you make a $5 profit
  • 19-36 you make an $8 profit

In a nutshell, just avoid 1-12 to make some money. However, as you’ll notice, your losses are going to be much bigger than your profits, so you will need to land a couple of 0s during your gaming session to walk away a richer gambler.

Remember that the house always has the edge, and there is no foolproof strategy to beat the casino. This is just one of the many methods people use.
