10 People Were Shot and Injured in Lakeland Shooting, Florida

Police say that at least 10 people were hurt in a drive-by shooting in Lakeland, Florida, on Monday afternoon, and two of them are in critical condition.

Lakeland Police Department Chief Sam Taylor said that a dark blue Nissan sedan with four doors pulled up to the scene of the shooting.

“The vehicle slowed, did not stop, and the four windows went down. It appeared to be occupied by four shooters in the vehicle”

– Taylor said.

“They started firing from all four windows of the vehicle and shooting males on both sides.”

Taylor told reporters Monday evening that eight of the people who were hurt do not have injuries that could kill them. Only three people were taken to the hospital by emergency services, and their ages ranged from 20 to 35.

Recently, there have been more mass shootings in the country, which you can read about here:

He said that the others were taken in private cars. The police chief said that they think it was planned. The Nissan, which had temporary tags, drove away quickly, and Taylor said that police are “actively looking for that vehicle right now.”

“We will be out most of the night trying to figure out who these individuals are in the vehicle”

– Taylor said.

Taylor says that police are looking for at least four men who may have been hiding their faces. He asked people in the area to call in if they had any information that could help the investigation.

On Monday, the police department announced a $5,000 reward in conjunction with Heartland Crime Stoppers Florida for information leading to the identification and arrest of those responsible for the shooting.

Having discovered a “quantity” of marijuana at the scene, authorities believe –

“there was a narcotic sales or sales of marijuana going on at the time”

– as stated by Taylor.

“Whether that is significant or related to this is unknown.”

The chief said that in the 34 years he had worked for the department, he had never seen so many people shot at once.

“This is something that doesn’t happen in Lakeland”

– Taylor said.
