The Watchful Eye Ending Explained: Is the Doorman Killed at the Base?

A fatal accident opens “The Watchful Eye,” setting the tone for an unquestionable thriller production. The Greybourne building and its inhabitants, who all appear to have secrets of their own, will be the episode’s focus.

They include Elena Santos, our protagonist, who has her own goals. Will she be able to carry out her plan, and if so, how much will it cost? Let’s investigate.

The Watchful Eye Recap

In the first episode, “Hen in the Fox House,” Alice Ward, a resident of the Greybourne Apartments, writes a suicide note and then jumps from the balcony. After then, the scene changes to six months later, where we see a woman named Elene attending an interview for a position as the nanny, where she will be in charge of Matthew and Alice’s kid Jasper.

The setting changes, and we now find Tory, who is Matthew’s sister-in-law and resides in the same building as Matthew, to be overly severe. The interview is interrupted by Tory informing Elena that she is unqualified for the position. Elena then mentions her mother, who passed away as a child.

Elena then accepts a position as a nanny and expresses her gratitude for the chance. Afterward, she moved to Greybourne, where she met other locals and encountered her Tory husband, who was now intoxicated, and her stepdaughter.

Elene then transfers to the second level, where she discovers that the structure is haunted and several individuals also perish there. Later, it becomes apparent that Mrs. Ivey is aware of something concerning Elena, as she demands payment for the information she will not divulge, tells Elena to do as she pleases, and also sends a message to Ivey. Again, it is clear that Elene intends to learn more about the ruby.

Elena decides to enter the cellar and look for the ruby there that evening. She moves by Cecil and Hector. The two doormen engaged in some fight and made her way to the basement door. She descends the steps, picks the lock on the door, and finds herself in a poorly lit corridor that resembles a maze.

After considerable traveling, she finally arrives at what was once a fancy dining room with lavish wallpaper. Still, she is now dusty after opening two doors one after the other. Portraits of numerous persons, including the building’s creator Alistair Greybourne, are also displayed on the walls.

Elena discovers a locker while looking around the area but cannot access it. Since it has a keyhole, it must have a key. When the room’s door shuts, she is still scanning the area. Even though it is obscured by the wallpaper and challenging to discover, Elena eventually does and runs out.

Hector is seen lying dead in front of her as she returns to the steps that would take her to ground level. The cops show up shortly after, and Hector’s body is removed. Scott Macedo, Elena’s lover, is the detective on the scene. Elena returns to her room after a brief conversation in which both parties act out their roles.

An image of Alistair Greybourne is prominently displayed on Mrs. Ivey’s dressing table as she practices yoga in her apartment. A piece of paper with the name Alice Greybourne Ward written on it is found inside a box that Darcy Ayres unlocks. This paper is similar to the one that Alice wrote before jumping to her death.

Tory Ayres is looking at a picture of Matthew Ward while lying in bed next to her husband, Dick. Matthew searches through the clothing while in his wife Alice’s open wardrobe. They all have secrets, of course. Elena meets a second babysitter, Ginny, at the end of the first episode.

See the tweet below:

She informs her that there is no such person as Jocelyn and they are the only two babysitters residing in the staff quarters. So who was the woman Elena met the previous evening? A lot is going on at the Greybourne, and everyone and everything, including Elena and her boyfriend Scott, is suspect.

What about Jocelyn? Is she one of the supposedly evil spirits Elliot previously mentioned to Elena? If not, who is she then? Elena is caught in the heart of a complex mystery web that just started with Episode 1.
